Our Aim

The primary aim of the Association is to provide a level of care for, amongst others, the elderly, frail and disabled in Teesdale who are considered to be geographically or socially isolated so that, with the assistance of the Association, they may continue to lead independent lives in their own homes.

  • The Association is based in Barnard Castle and administered by a Community Worker/Manager, supported by a Financial Administrator/Deputy Manager and an administration assistant, who are primarily office based.
  • The Community Worker visits the Clubs and liaises with members, Club Leaders and other organisations and agencies.
  • The Association is governed by a Board of Trustees elected at the Annual General Meeting.
  • Club Leaders and Cooks are given appropriate training in areas such as food hygiene, health and safety, person handling and first aid.  Opportunities for training are also available to volunteers. Any member of staff or volunteers working alone with members undergo CRB checks.
  • The Association works with local schools to involve younger people with the organisation.
