Our Aim

The primary aim of the Association is to provide a level of care for, amongst others, the elderly, frail and disabled in Teesdale who are considered to be geographically or socially isolated so that, with the assistance of the Association, they may continue to lead independent lives in their own homes.

About ATDC

The Association of Teesdale Day Clubs has been operating for about 15 years and has functioned as a registered charity since 2001. Our Patron is the Hon. Mrs. Harry Vane.

There are 10 semi-autonomous clubs operating across Teesdale, supporting about 330 members (service users). The clubs meet in Barnard Castle, Cotherstone, Evenwood, Gainford, Mickleton, Middleton, Staindrop, Stainton Grove, Winston and Woodland.

Each club is supported by volunteers (totalling over 100 across the 10 clubs) and by 14 part-time staff positions comprising club leaders, cooks and administrative roles.

The Association has grown to meet demand with an increase from 126 members in 2001 to approximately 330 in 2011.  The number of volunteers has increased from 51 in 2001, to a present total of about 100.

In 2011 we held 464 sessions at which over 8,400 meals were provided.
